Hyderabad Blues

..the traffic is still furious, the shops are open and stuffed with thin fumes of incense sticks, the offices are packed with insensitive employees, some of them cursing and some being passionate.

Hyderabad has been blessed with an opportunity to encounter more than three ‘bandhs’ (actually I have stopped counting them after three..!!). The issue is related to the demands of a separate state as Telangana by some activists. The issue boiled up when one fragile looking guy famously known as KCR went on to fast-unto-death. Now a day this is one very common term regarded as one point mantra for instigating agitations. All the shops, malls, offices were targeted and then it was repelled strongly by government senior officials. I don’t know what resolution was devised or what measures were suggested at that time, but the only things that matter to me were interruptions in my daily routine life.

Now every day, a ‘bandh’ is declared in advance, the traffic come to a stand still, the petrol pumps goes dry followed by endless queue of vehicles outside…the auto-wallas hikes up their rates as if they would take your responsibility during the entire journey…the buses, especially government owned, gets suspended at the eleventh hour and surprisingly the private ones still operates. Sometime I feel these public transports are meant only for being molested during agitations. I propose we should have special vehicles as ‘Ready-to-be-torched’ vehicles during these troubled times..!!. It’s been couple of months that these incidents have been happening in the city, so I can safely guess that, still nothing has been finalized so far.

Now the ‘fast-formula’ is losing its sheen so people have started using suicides to put pressure on government. Lakhs of people (innocent and martyrs) die per year in this country and still government doesn’t blink an inch. Still these guys are hopeful that a suicide can change the world. I appreciate their faith in the hope, but lets think about the guy who gave up his life for a reason that becomes invalid after his death… Ok, there may be reasons for which he decided to end his life, maybe because of insecurities in life etc, but what is left after his death? Are all his insecurities resolved? Will he be able to relish the resolved insecurities? I am still clueless and couldn’t fathom that how can a university graduate think in such a short perspective. In this heat of incidences I surely don’t expect the words of encouragement from the government or the agitators against suicides, so the onus lies on self-only. Here people are mad at life being so short for exploration, and still we hear the news of suicides, and we have politicians who take advantages.

Anyways the ‘bandhs’ are still on, and am writing this blog while working in my office. That explains two things. First the frequent series of ‘bandhs’ have lost the only sheen it has left. It has some impact in the central area and nearby, but for others, it is just another day. For the suicides in the city, I can only say (pray), “Just grow up”. The world needs you in healthy and productive way. And second, I am sitting idle in my office as being unproductive for a while, and writing this blog to educate all, but spare me for that…
