This is one of the films that you should see, not for the story or the music, but just for the sheer brilliance of the actor’s performance, narration and finally the direction. A little less known in northern cinema, R. Balki has made a deep impact over the viewers by presenting this clean movie. The movie has been in news for quite some time that explains its box office reviews with larger than life numbers.
As expected, Amitabh is re-invented here as a 12 year old kid, ‘Auro’, suffering from a very rare disease called Progesis. Here, a 12-year-old kid is suffered with 80-year-old body that makes him fragile but intelligent. The movie is set at background of Lucknow where Abhishek is shown as newly elected MP with rejuvenating idols to ornate the visions of future India. As he said, he was careful but could effectively imitate the portrait of Sachin Pilot (including his hair style..!!). Vidya Balan looks good in Auro’s mother and her struggle to up-bring Auro seems visible on her face and her body language. She looked tired but committed and determined.
Talking about Amitabh, he has again delivered what was expected from him. In fact this one is a step ahead. I am sure; no actor could have imagined such a role at the age of 60’s. He looks convincing in his role except the dubbing, which I feel, could have been a bit different. The story looks good but sometimes it digresses from its vision especially during the political imbroglio shown between Abhishek and his counterparts. I was expecting more knowledge about Progeria and the behavior expected from the infected ones. Maybe this wasn’t the intention of the director.
Anyways, it is a very good movie and a must-watch for all those who appreciate creativity and sensibility in classical cinema. Else for others, it could be a bit boring...
